District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Gandhinagar, was established in June 2002. The Education Department initiated the institute in the fourth phase of the DIET scheme. The Director of GCERT and the Principal of DIET worked hard to propose and acquire land for the institute.
Consequently, DIET Gandhinagar was founded to support elementary teacher training, educational research, and curriculum development. The institute focuses on developing quality education strategies and conducting research in primary and adult education.

Tech-Savvy Teacher Training (ET 2021-22)
- Conducted by the ET branch on December 7-8, 2021.
- Targeted at primary school teachers from the Mansa and Gandhinagar clusters.
- Covered topics:

- Training included practical sessions and module copies for better implementation in schools.

ICT Module Finalization Workshop (ET 2021-22)
- DRG – ICT Gandhinagar finalized the “I’m Techno-savvy Teacher” module on August 6, 2021.
- GCERT and other experts reviewed and proofread the module on September 13, 2021.
- The finalized module was distributed among educators to improve digital teaching methods.
District Innovation Festival (IFIC 2021-22)
- Held on January 8-9, 2022, organized by IFIC.
- 35 innovators participated and showcased their work.
- Recognized and appreciated innovative contributions.
- Encouraged new educational ideas and creative solutions in teaching methodologies.
DIET Annual Inspection (December 9-10, 2021)
- Conducted by GCERT, Gandhinagar.
- Coordinated by Ms. Darshnaben Joshi, Project Officer, GCERT.
- Included both educational and administrative inspections.
- Committee members followed a checklist provided by GCERT.
- The inspection aimed to ensure quality education standards and improve institutional efficiency.
Change in B.Ed. Affiliation
- DIET Gandhinagar’s B.Ed. The course affiliation shifted from Gujarat University to IITE Gandhinagar in May 2019.
- Change was implemented based on government regulations.
- The affiliation shift is expected to improve the quality of teacher education programs.
Functions of DIET
Training and Orientation
- Training for primary school teachers (both pre-service and in-service).
- Orientation for school heads, complex heads, and education officers.
